“The business case is just a lot clearer for technology like what we're building. And in the pure fee-for-service world, the optimizations around how do I get people in and out as quickly as possible versus patient experience in capturing disease risk earlier - there's a ton of evidence that points to giving clinicians superpowers, in a way that makes economic sense, leads to earlier diagnosis, better outcomes, lower total cost of care—things that we all care about eventually enabling."
-Vasu Nadella, Co-founder & CEO of Vital Bio

VentureFuel Visionaries Vasu Nadella, Curio's CEO Shailja Dixit, and Kit.com's Founder & CEO Philip Fung joined us for a conversation about the challenges and breakthroughs of being a startup, healthcare regulations, and the approach to a B2B standpoint.
Shailja is an accomplished healthcare & pharmaceutical physician executive with more than 15 years of healthcare industry experience with Big Pharma (Sanofi and Pfizer), Big-5 Consulting (Accenture), Payer (Aetna), and Provider Groups.
Vasu believes that democratizing diagnostics has the potential to reshape care delivery radically and is passionate about helping patients live healthier lives through technology that is delightful to use. Prior to starting Vital Bio, he founded a machine-learning personalization startup which he sold to a direct competitor, after which he spent time at Inovia Capital as an entrepreneur-in-residence, focused on supporting founders in healthcare and life sciences.
Philip was one of the early engineers at Facebook, focusing on growth and mobile apps. In 2005, Phil was in-between classes at Stanford and ran into Mark Zuckerberg, sitting by himself, holding a sign "Come Work at Facebook". Phil left school a month later to work there.
